Known as brachioplasty, as a way to remove excess skin and fat from the upper arm. Hanging and sagging skin on the underside of the arms is generally part of the natural aging process, but it can also be caused by significant weight loss. With the arm lift procedure, excess skin is removed and the remainder is tightened for a more taut and smooth appearance. Incisions will be carefully placed so that residual scarring can be as light and well-hidden as possible. In some cases, combine the procedure with liposuction for better results. If the skin in the affected area has good elasticity, liposuction alone might potentially be recommended as an alternative to brachioplasty.

Your arms will be swollen for a few weeks after surgery; however, any discomfort can be managed with medication.

Recovery and Results:

  • Light arm movement is encouraged during this time, but you should avoid strenuous activity for several weeks.
  • Most patients are able to resume normal daily routines after one week. Follow-up visit will be scheduled with you to monitor your healing. Following our practice’s post-op instructions is an important part of the healing process.
  • Be sure to wear your compression garment as instructed, and refrain from smoking or taking any medications that our surgeons advise against, such as Aspirin and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications.
  • The results of arm lift surgery are typically immediately noticeable; however, it may take some time for the swelling to completely dissipate. Once the swelling has subsided, the optimal results from arm lift surgery should be apparent.
